Top 10 Tuesday: Super Long Book Titles

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This Week’s Topic: Super Long Book Titles

I’m not really sure what counts as “Super Long”, but this list is the longest ones that came to mind from books I either have read or am wanting to read.

  1. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephanie Myer
  2. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon
  3. The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure by William Goldman
  4. I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You by Ally Carter
  5. The Girl Who Circumvented Fairyland in a Ship of her Own Making by Catherine M. Valente
  6. Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked With of the West by Gregory Maguire
  7. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
  8. Critics Who Know Jack (Urban Myths, Media, and Rock & Roll) by Joseph Maviglia
  9. The Princess Saves Herself In This One by Amanda Lovelace
  10. The Element Encyclopedia of Magical Creatures by John Matthews

Music Monday: Keithia Pt. 8

This week’s playlist has a bit of a different mood to it. At one point, about half way through the campaign, Keithia almost left the party altogether. Between the trauma of having been killed in the alternate timeline the group was sent to and some built up resentment towards lots of her party, she was really considering going to live with her sister and leaving everything behind. While she ultimately patched things up with her friends and chose to stick with them, she did still have her bad days when everything seemed too overwhelming. This playlist is for Keithia at her darkest moments.

Music Monday: Keithia Pt. 7

It’s time for another character playlist! This week we have a pretty short one that I definitely did not spend nearly as much time on as most of the other’s.

Chealyn Kingsnorth was a noble, a heretical priestess, and Keithia’s secret half sister. She initially entered the campaign as more of an antagonist and none of the party liked or trusted her, but she gradually became something more of an ally, especially as she and Thia talked a little more. Their relationship was always contentious, as Chealyn never seemed to be allowed to tell Keithia as much as she wanted to, causing a lot of friction between them. Despite this though, Thia loved her and wanted to build a better relationship with her, something that they did eventually find a chance to in the epilogue, after the truth of Keithia’s parentage had been revealed.

Fae Friday: Hurt So Good

#FaeFriday was created to help fill the hole in Kristy’s life after #FridayFavorites was discontinued. The idea behind this weekly blog prompt is that each Friday will have a bit of magic sparkled on it with a bookish prompt inspired by the Fair Folk! #FaeFriday is the creation of Kristy from Caffeinated Fae

This Week’s Prompt: Autumn is in the air, and the autumn court is in the spotlight. The autumn court is full of strange and beautiful faes who can have a slight sadistic side. This week’s prompt is dedicated to those sadists, which is why this curious wannabe fae wants to know: What are some of your go-to authors that make it hurt so good.

The first one that comes to my mind here is Kieron Gillen. Every comic series I have read from him has taken me on an exciting ride of emotional turmoil and I cannot recommend my favourites (Die and The Wicked + The Divine) enough.

I have also found myself experiencing this while reading through The Dresden Files series. I wasn’t really sure what to expect starting with these books, but Jim Butcher has quite unexpectedly delivered some powerful emotions over the course of the five books I have finished so far.

And for a third, I think I’d say Leigh Bardougo. So far I have only read the Six of Crows books by her, but they really played with my emotions the whole way through! I got to watch a friend of mine read them for the first time recently and seeing her go through all of that was actually pretty entertaining from the other side.
